About Intellectual Disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder

Intellectual Disability (ID) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are lifelong developmental conditions that affect how individuals think, learn, communicate, and engage with the world around them. According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 1–2% of the global population is affected by ID, while approximately 1 in 100 children worldwide has autism. Intellectual Disability is characterized by limitations in intellectual functioning and adaptive behavior, influencing everyday skills such as communication, social participation, and independent living.

Autism Spectrum Disorder, a neurodevelopmental condition, is now increasingly understood through the lens of neurodiversity—which embraces natural variations in the human brain. Individuals with ASD may face challenges in speech, social interaction, and behavior patterns, but also bring unique perspectives and strengths. Typically identified before the age of three, autism is a spectrum that presents differently in every individual, emphasizing the need for early intervention, personalized care, and inclusive environments. At Tata Power, we believe that building a truly equitable society begins with awareness and empathy. Our Pay Autention initiative aims to be a platform for understanding, celebrating, and supporting neurodiverse individuals and their caregivers.

About E-Sanidhya

E-Sanidhya, a pioneering initiative under Tata Power’s flagship Pay Autention program, is reshaping the way we support neurodiverse individuals and their caregivers. Developed in collaboration with NIEPID and Tata Elxsi, this transformative digital platform was unveiled on December 3rd, 2024, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, in the esteemed presence of the Hon’ble Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment.

E-Sanidhya was created to bridge a crucial gap: the disconnect between educators, parents, caregivers, and children with special needs. By fostering understanding and equipping caregivers and educators with practical tools, the platform makes inclusion more than just a goal—it makes it a reality.
From diagnostic support to home care solutions, E-Sanidhya ensures that expert guidance is no longer a luxury confined to urban centers. The platform hosts a curated 'Purple Directory' featuring free and paid resources from government and private institutions, expanding access to underserved regions and breaking barriers to holistic care.

With a user-friendly design, caregivers, parents, and professionals can seamlessly register using a mobile number and OTP, unlocking a wealth of resources to support children with neurodiversity. Already serving over 8,000 users, E-Sanidhya is driving change through technology-driven solutions.
